On 18th of February, 2012 Ambassador of Ukraine to Serbia V.Nedopas took part in the concert of Ukrainian and Ruthenian songs and dances in Novi Sad.
The representatives of Greek-Catholic church, professors of Philosophy faculty of Novi Sad University, national councils of Ukrainian and Ruthenian national minorities in Serbia, local administration, Ukrainian and Ruthenian Diaspora in Serbia also participated in this event which took place in Novi Sad theatre “Ben Akiba”. This event was organized by the Union of Ukrainians and Ruthenians of Serbia and National Council of Ruthenian National Minority in Serbia.
In their addresses before the concert the Head of Union of Ukrainians and Ruthenians of Serbia B.Vislavski, academic of Vojvodina Academy of Sciences and Art J.Tamas paid special attention to the genetic tie between Ukrainian and Ruthenian Diaspora in Serbia and the state of their origin – Ukraine, as well as to the importance to save the Ukrainian national traditions among the Diaspora.
Cultural groups “Kalina” (Indjija), “Karpati” (Vrbas), “Ivan Kotljarevski” (Bikic Dol), “Petro Kuzmjak” (Orahovo), choir “Harmony” (Novi Sad) presented traditional Ukrainian songs and dances as well as Ukrainian traditions of celebrating Christmas.
