Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Serbia Victor Nedopas met the Head of National Assembly (parliament) of the Republic of Serbia Dr. S.Djukic-Dejanovic.
On the 7th of October, 2010, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Serbia Victor Nedopas met the Head of the National Assembly (parliament) of the Republic of Serbia Dr. S.Djukic-Dejanovic. During the meeting Ambassador has briefed her about the recent developments of political situation in Ukraine, in particular about the decision by the Constitutional Court of Ukraine on annulling the Law of Ukraine “About the Changes to the Constitution of Ukraine” №2222 from 8th December, 2004 and returning validity of norms of the Constitution of Ukraine from 1996. Ambassador has pointed out that, according to the President of Ukraine V.Yanukovych, these constitutional changes do not mean the changes in Ukrainian foreign policy or its commitment to democratic reforms.
Ambassador of Ukraine has also informed Serbian side about the preparation process to the local elections in Ukraine to be held on the 31st of October this year, in particular, about the changes to the law on local elections aimed to strengthen the transparency of voting and terminate the monopoly of political parties represented in the parliament in electorial process. He also informed about the invitation of the OSCE Representative on Media Freedom D.Mijatovic to Ukraine to provide her with true information on the media freedom situation in Ukraine.
Also, a number of issues related to bilateral interparliamentary cooperation between Ukraine and Serbia, in particular, possible organization of a visit of the Head of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine V.Lytvyn to Serbia in 2011 and a meeting of the parliamentary groups of friendship of two states were discussed.
