The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Ukraine met today with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Viktor Nedopas.
The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Ukraine, Jovan Palalic, commended the two Slavic peoples’ excellent relations, as well as the fact that Ukraine had not recognised the independence of Kosovo. There is room for further development and expansion of cooperation in the spheres of economy, business, education and knowledge transfer, especially with AP Vojvodina which traditionally exchanges knowledge in the spheres of agriculture and agrarian industry with Ukraine. The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group stressed that one of the ultimate goals of cooperation is signing a free trade agreement which would prove beneficial for both countries. Ambassador Nedopas was glad to see how very interested the Serbian MPs were to join the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Ukraine, he commended the friendly relations between the two countries and invited a National Assembly delegation, headed by the National Assembly Speaker, to pay an official visit to Ukraine. He also stressed that he hoped for a continuation of legislative, military security, economic and cultural cooperation. Ambassador Nedopas also reminded that this year marks the 1025th anniversary of Christianity in Ukraine and invited the National Assembly to send a delegation to the event. The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Ukraine believe that parliamentary cooperation will contribute to the development of overall relations between Ukraine and Serbia, adding that Serbia is open to cooperation in the spheres of science, higher education and culture.
