On April 23, 2013 Belgrad hosted the Fifth sitting of Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Serbian commission for trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation led by a Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Policies of Serbia Jovan Krkobabić.
Participants of the meeting discussed a series of bilateral cooperation, in particular, in the area of trade and investments, energy effectiveness, transport, tourism, social sphere, agro-industrial complex. Also cooperation between Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine and Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Serbia was tackled.
Yuriy Boyko assured that work of the Commission is a significant intergovernmental mechanism of bilateral cooperation which will facilitate further development of relations between Ukraine and Serbia.
“It is the fifth session of the Commission already which is the proof of stability and consistency of Ukraine-Serbia relations. It will become a significant milestone for their strengthening and development. I consider that the protocol of results of work of the Commission we have signed today is a very good basis to ensure development and deepening of our trade and economic relations in the interests of both countries,” he said.
The Vice Premier emphasized that the joint session of the Commission would become a good basement for the proper preparation of an official visit of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to the Republic of Serbia and a visit of Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić to Ukraine during which it is planned signing of bipartite documents and holding events with participation of businessmen and entrepreneurs of the two states.
“Today’s sitting of the Commission is taking place in the period when we are readying for the two significant events – a visit of President of Ukraine to Serbia and a visit of the Prime Minister of Serbia to Ukraine. Accordingly, during the meeting we considered measures called to fill these visits with concrete deeds and concrete projects,” Yuriy Boyko said.
He also stressed that considerable growth of trade volumes remained the top priorities for both countries.
The following sitting of the Commission was agreed to be held in 2014 in Kyiv.
